3 Important (and Often Overlooked) Pages on Your Squarespace Website

Why these three pages matter when it comes to a strategic site.

When you think about the most important pages on your Squarespace website, you probably jump straight to the Home page, About page, and Services page. And you're not wrong. Those pages are the backbone of any strong website design. But in our work as a branding and website design studio, we consistently see business owners overlook a few lower-traffic pages that punch well above their weight when it comes to user experience, SEO, and conversions.

Today we're talking about three pages you shouldn't be skipping: your thank-you page, your 404 page, and your link-in-bio landing page. Each one plays a unique role in your overall content strategy and brand experience, and each deserves a real seat at the table.

1. The Thank-You Page

Your thank-you page is often the most under-loved page on your website, but it's actually one of the most strategic. It’s often the first interaction someone has with your brand after they've already shown interest in working with you, whether that's booking a call, signing up for your newsletter, or completing a purchase. That's a huge opportunity, and it shouldn't be wasted.

A well-designed thank-you page does a few key things:

  • Reassures customers. It confirms that their action (i.e., a form submission, a purchase, an inquiry) was successful. No one likes wondering if their submission actually went through.

  • Gives clear next steps. Let visitors know exactly what happens next. Should they check their email for a download link? Expect a confirmation email with shipping details? Wait for a team member to reach out within 48 hours? Spell it out.

  • Capitalizes on a "warm" audience. Someone who just converted is primed for a secondary offer. This is prime real estate for upsells, related content, or a nudge to follow you on social media.

If your thank-you page is non-existent or your strategy stops at "thank you," you're leaving engagement (and revenue!) on the table.

2. The 404 Page

A 404 error page might not seem like a priority in your website design, but it plays a critical role in both user experience and SEO. A thoughtfully designed 404 page turns a dead link or mistyped URL into a helpful redirect instead of a frustrating dead end that sends visitors running.

Here's why it matters:

  • It reassures visitors the whole site isn't broken. A clear, plain-language message tells people the specific page is missing, not that your entire website is down.

  • It keeps your SEO healthy. Search engines like Google don't penalize sites for having 404 pages. In fact, a proper 404 status code tells search crawlers that a page no longer exists so it can be removed from search results appropriately. Skipping this can actually create SEO headaches down the line.

  • It reduces bounce rates. A well-built 404 page should offer a path forward ( links to your homepage, popular blog posts, or a search bar) so visitors stay on your site instead of abandoning it altogether.

On top of the functional benefits, your 404 page should be simple, on-brand, and consistent with the rest of your website design. It's a small detail, but it says a lot about your attention to brand consistency.

3. The Social Link-in-Bio Landing Page

If you're still sending your Instagram or TikTok followers to a third-party link-in-bio tool, it's time to reconsider. Building a custom, hidden landing page on your own domain lets you retain 100% of your traffic data and analytics tracking - data that a third-party tool keeps for itself.

A custom link-in-bio landing page does more than just house your links. It:

  • Bridges the gap between a casual social media scroll and a specific conversion goal, whether that's a product page, a blog post, or an email opt-in.

  • Creates a hyper-focused user experience that feels like an extension of your brand rather than a generic third-party tool.

  • Lets you highlight multiple destinations, such as your latest blog post, a featured product, or a newsletter sign-up, without constantly editing your bio link every time your priorities shift.

This page is a small but mighty piece of your overall digital strategy, and it belongs on your own Squarespace website, not someone else's platform.

Every Page Matters

Your thank-you page, 404 page, and link-in-bio landing page may not be the flashiest pages on your site, but they all contribute to a consistent, intentional brand experience. When every touchpoint is designed with purpose, your website works harder for you.
